Soon you will find yourself behind the wheel and learning to drive safely.
When you have your learner permit, it’s important to get as much supervised and varied practice as possible. Here’s a few things that will help:
Download and read Road To Solo Driving
Download and read The Learner Kit and encourage your supervising driver to read Guide for Supervising Drivers. Monitor your driving practice by recording your 120 hours in your Learner Log Book. This will be given to you when you get your learner permit.
When you are driving, remember:
- You must have an accompanying driver with you who has a full (non probationary) car licence.
- You must display your yellow L plates on the front and back of any car you drive.
- You must have a zero blood alcohol concentration (BAC) whenever you drive. That means you can’t drink and then drive.
- You can’t tow any other vehicles or trailers.
- You can only drive a car – not a bus or a truck.
- You must carry your learner permit with you whenever you drive
