used car safety comparisons

If you are in the market to buy a car, the Used Car Safety Ratings (UCSR) is a reliable source of information about how well the car can protect people in a crash. The UCSR uses the records of more than three million crashes on Australian roads.

The UCSR indicates how well individual cars protect all road users in the event of a crash, including cyclists, pedestrians and other drivers. VicRoads recommends that car buyers purchase cars that offer 'better than average' protection as a minimum.

Use the drop down menus below to filter your search of used cars and compare their safety ratings. We’ve colour coded the ratings, with green being the safest and red the least safe. The legend at the bottom of the page shows you how to identify how safe each car is.
